We have lots of experience, flexibility, and great attention to detail, all in a spacious and rustic environment perfect for your out-of-town guests to gather in a home-like space. The area has many attractions and group activities for everyone to enjoy. Rent the whole house for your very own family retreat.

“The whole week was very special… I couldn’t have asked for a better outcome. Dad was beyond touched and everyone had the nicest things to say about the Prairie Guest House. The food was great and service was even better. Extremely attentive to our needs. Thank you for coordinating everything for us. We were very pleased!” – Brooke, Fishers IN

Planning your family reunion

Family reunions are an important part of family life. They can help preserve fond memories, favorite recipes, and, most importantly, relationships that will last for generations. Given the chance, family reunions and celebrations can provide family members with important values, strong and lasting bonds, and a deep sense of belonging that they can pass on to their children and their grandchildren.

With all of this responsibility, planning a family reunion can be a daunting assignment! It can also be a most rewarding and enjoyable one. Careful planning and attention to detail is what will make your successful reunion one to remember.

The challenge is to form an effective planning committee with one person designated the Family Reunion Chairman. The Chair should be someone with good organizational skills and the time and desire to do it. This is the person we will work closest with on site vists, communications, and planning sessions.

Planning to bring the whole family? No problem! PGH is kid friendly. Gather the family and celebrate with us!

Set the date well in advance:

Getting a large group of family together takes a lot of coordination, and it is best to start planning the trip at least a year in advance so everyone can save the dates and book flights and accommodations. As you get closer to the date, availability will become slim, and prices will go up. Be firm about sticking to a date once it has been chosen. You want to accommodate as many people as possible, but you’re unlikely to find a time that works for everyone. For the length of your visit, we encourage checking in on Wednesday/Thursday and staying until Sunday.

To help with the planning process, once you have selected your dates, the reuinion planner and up to three guests can enjoy two free nights at the Prairie Guest House. Just select two nights, at least one month prior to your reunion date, and take the opportunity to meet our family, check out the property, and research surrounding areas. (The above offers apply after a non-refundable deposit, received for any upcoming reunion. Must be used during the week, Sun – Thurs.)

Pick a Destination With Activities

It’s important to find a destination where all generations of your family can have a good time. This means choosing a reunion venue with a variety of activity options. You want a property that offers or is near a golf course, a pool, a spa, a lake where you can go swimming or fishing, hiking trails, bike rentals and many outdoor activities. Prairie Guest House is within 10 miles of all the above, and more!

Plan a Themed Event

The purpose of a reunion is to spend time with your family, but there are many

instances where people tend to go their separate ways to participate in their favorite

activities and get little time together as a group. Utilize our great range of facilities to plan a number of different activities:

Gathering for meals is a great way to celebrate family and being together. To amp up the together-time you can designate collective events in the afternoons or evenings of your reunion for a fun activity such as a Karaoke Party, a barbecue with local musicians or music of your choice. You could have a dance party in the studio, story telling around the fire pit, or a card tournament in the dining room. In our experience, parties, where everyone in the family gathers together, are the highlight of the reunion.
